The 'Oh Love' band will release ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! over the coming months, with each LP containing a distinct sound.
"The first record reproduces our classic sound, while the second has a more party sort of sound. It ends up being a party from hell," Billie Joe Armstrong told BBC News.
"The third is more reflecting, a bit of a hangover," he added.
On their lead single 'Oh Love', he said: "It's a tension ballad, it keeps on growing until a massive chorus. I can hear the song in front of a big Reading crowd."
Talking about the group's upcoming documentaries, Tre Cool explained: "It's like asking what a sausage tastes like, you could tell them or just hand them a sausage. This is an inside voyeuristic look that will answer lots of questions that we won't have to."
Green Day are tipped to perform a surprise set at this year's Reading Festival.
¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! will be released on September 25, November 13 and January 15, 2013 respectively.
