Russell Brand to host Brit Awards
Published Monday, Dec 4 2006, 11:11 GMT | By Matthew Houghton
Comedian and radio host Russell Brand has been chosen to host next year's Brit Awards ceremony, it has been revealed.
The show will be broadcast live for the first time in almost two decades. The last time the famous awards ceremony went out to a live audience was in 1989 on a famously shambolic night involving Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood.
Oasis are already set to receive an award for their outstanding contribution to British music, as well as the British single of the year being voted for by viewers.
The ceremony, held at London's Earl's Court, will be broadcast on February 14.
