Stefani defends making new album

Gwen Stefani has spoken out to justify her latest album after some criticism.
The singer revealed she wanted to quit singing to concentrate on her family life, but when the opportunity arose to release some unfinished material, she couldn't resist.
"I never intended to do another solo record," she said. "It's kind of embarrassing talking about it. I had a couple of amazing tracks left over from the last one ... but I wanted to have a baby. Now I have both. I'm just going with the flow."
Stefani has also revealed her satisfaction with the new material, claiming it has taken a new direction from her previous releases: "The last one was a total dance record. Not serious, very light. This one is way different. The inspiration for this one is 'it doesn't have a direction', making it very modern."
