The singer is also predicted to win the 'Best Female Video' prize, while Justin Bieber is forecast to take the 'Best Male Video' prize. One Direction are tipped to win the 'Best New Artist' category.
"starcount can reveal who the winners would be if it was purely down to the artist's popularity and engagement with their fans on social media," the company explained.
"With social media now an all-important measurement of popularity, will the awards be judged on what the fans want? We'll have to wait and see tonight!"
The company noted that the MTV VMAs have recognised the impact of social media with the introduction of the 'Most Share-Worthy Video' prize.
Fans have been using Twitter hashtags to vote for their favourite, with One Direction currently leading Bieber in that category.
