Music channel Chart Show revealed via its Twitter page that the star is planning to release the LP before Christmas this year.

Clarkson has released five albums to date and has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Her most successful record is 2004's Breakaway, which has sold 12 million copies worldwide, with 1.5 million in the UK alone.

The singer's latest LP, Stronger, peaked at number two in the US and number five in the UK.

She has also notched up ten top ten singles in the US and eight in the UK, including 'Since U Been Gone', 'My Life Would Suck Without You', 'Miss Independent' and 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)'.

Clarkson recently described herself as a singer who doesn't follow 'popstar rules'.
