The boyband split this year with a 'Greatest Hits' album and farewell tour, but Keating told James Merritt for Free Radio that they would return.
Asked if his old Boyzone manager Louis Walsh would helm a new boyband, Keating said: "Sure, it depends.
"I think Westlife will be back in a couple of years. I think Westlife will decide that they want to come back.
"I know that's what we wanted. It's hard when you've been in that situation to walk away totally. It never goes away. You miss it. So I'll say that the lads will come back after a year or two off."
Keating again confirmed plans for a new Boyzone album and 20th-anniversary tour.
Bandmates Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy had previously revealed plans for the jaunt and Keating added: "100%. We're planning an album for the summer next year and then a tour at the end of the year, that's the plan."
