Ed Sheeran on 'balanced' music piracy: 'It's all relative'

By
Ed Sheeran has claimed that he has found a "decent balance" between selling albums and people downloading it for free.

The singer's debut album + has been named the most pirated record in the UK during 2012 so far, with an average 55,512 illegal downloads a month.

Speaking to the BBC earlier this year, Sheeran said: "There's a decent balance between - you can live off your sales and you can allow people to illegally download it and come to your gigs.

"My gig tickets are £18 and my album is £8, so it's all relative."

Rihanna's Talk That Talk and Frank Ocean's Channel ORANGE are the second and third-most pirated albums in the UK respectively.

Over 43.3 million illegal downloads have occurred in the UK so far this year, while over 96.8 million shares have taken place in the US.
