Nick Clegg 'sorry' song reaches iTunes Top 40
Website The Poke released a musical version of the politician saying sorry for the Liberal Democrats' promises regarding tuition fees earlier this week.
Clegg later agreed to the site's plans to release it online as a downloadable single, as long as it raised money for Sheffield Children's Hospital.
Hours after its release yesterday (September 22), the track has climbed inside the top 40 most downloaded tracks on iTunes.
A spokesman for the website told The Mirror: "Nick Clegg has been very good-humoured about this.
"He has become the first politician in history to achieve a position in the pop charts for making an apology.
"The Poke is staggered by its success."
As of Sunday afternoon, it had reached as high as number 33, but it will most likely miss out on a place inside the official singles Top 40 announced later today.
