Lady GaGa's record label has denied reports that it asked the star to lose weight.

The singer has faced increased media attention recently after images from her 'Born This Way Ball' world tour showed that she had become heavier.

Further to this, rumours circulated that Universal Music - GaGa's label - had asked her to lose weight.

However, a representative for the label branded the claims "nonsense" and has declined to issue a statement regarding the matter, reports NME.

GaGa has since hit back at critics, stating that she is proud of her size and posting a series of images of herself in her underwear with the title 'A Body Revolution 2013'.

The star is expected to release her third studio album ARTPOP in spring 2013.
