One Direction have beaten a VEVO record previously held by Justin Bieber.
The boyband's latest clip for new single 'Live While We're Young' achieved 8.24 million views during its first 24 hours of being online.
The feat means the group surpassed the previous record held by Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend', which claimed 8 million views during its premiere earlier this year.
VEVO has been credited in part for launching the X Factor group in the US through its VEVO LIFT series.
"We begged for the VEVO LIFT, it's instant — the numbers were quite extraordinary," Steve Barnett, chairman of American record label Columbia said.
"It was a massive part of our success in America. VEVO had more impact than anything else [for One Direction]. I've never seen anything work as quickly."
One Direction's new single 'Live While We're Young' will be available to download in the UK from September 30 and in the US from October 1.
Their second studio album Take Me Home follows on November 12 in the UK and a day later in the US.
