Alanis Morissette has unveiled the first of six webisodes exclusively on Digital Spy.
The singer discusses the topic of social commentary in music in the clip, which appears below:
She said: "I like to think there's more of a return now to personal, social, political commentary through art.
"In today's western climate and all over the planet, there's a focus on competition and win lose. If we believe in this dream state that we are separate, then that will dictate everything that we choose to do."
Discussing the song 'Lens' featured in the video from her latest album Havoc and Bright Lights, she explained: "Looking through the lens of love is really looking through the lens of how we can both win.
"If we can't both win then we can't do this. At the end of the day we're a co-operative bunch, but it hasn't really been focused on."
Morissette recently hailed the 'rise of female empowerment in music'.
