Matt Cardle 'feeling post-X Factor pressure'

By
Matt Cardle has admitted that he's feeling the pressure over his second studio album.

The singer will release The Fire in the UK on October 29 and hopes the collection will help him escape the shadow of One Direction's success.

Asked by The Sun if he feels pressure to bring new material out, Cardle replied: "Absolutely. What's happening with One Direction, I need to crawl out of their shadow.

"After The X Factor, people put words in my mouth but I'm very grateful for the show and what it's done for me and, yeah, I'm Matt Cardle from The X Factor and I will be for a good five or six years.

"Will Young's shaking it off but that's been a decade. Yet when the new X Factor ad came on, the only people left off were me, Shayne Ward and Steve Brookstein. But I had a platinum album and sell-out tour."
