Timberlake expected Sexyback backlash

The singer worried that his decision to adopt a new sound for the song would be too controversial, but was pleasantly surprised by the single's success.
"If you make a record like that, you have to say, 'Yeah, I'm doing it - deal with it!' You kind of have to grab your balls," he explained.
Timberlake realised the impact of the single when Al Gore made reference to it at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year.
"That felt cool to me," Justin added. "But it's like, 'God, I don't want to be known as the SexyBack guy.' That's when you know it's time to release your second single."
