Green Day cancel Voodoo Music + Arts festival show in New Orleans

By
Green Day have cancelled their appearance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience festival.

The 'Oh Love' band were slated to headline an October 27 show at the New Orleans event, but will not attend due to Billie Joe Armstrong entering rehab.

Bassist Mike Dirnt apologised for disappointing Green Day's loyal New Orleans fans in a press statement released Monday (October 8).

"Cancelling shows is something we rarely do," Dirnt said. "We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time."

Armstrong checked into a treatment centre last month following an outburst at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.

The singer was reported to have become upset when organizers notified him that Green Day had surpassed their scheduled stage time.

"I'm not Justin Bieber, you motherf**kers! You gotta be f**king joking," Armstrong apparently shouted from the Las Vegas stage.

Green Day recently released Uno!, the first in a trio of new records. Two additional albums, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré!, are released in the coming months.
