The 'Your Body' singer is pictured on the Lotus cover nude as she emerges from a flower, an image which she said represents "a celebration of the new [her]".
Aguilera has now been asked by Billboard if she felt posing naked for the album cover was a risk.
"Have I ever been scared to take risks?" she quipped in response.
Aguilera then answered more seriously: "I'm very comfortable with my body. I've always said, 'No matter what hairstyle, crazy look, make-up, I've always done [the] exciting thing'.
"Whether people love it or hate it, at least I know I was staying true to myself."
Aguilera also suggested that her three seasons on The Voice have partially influenced the songs on Lotus.
"There are some songs that I vocally went for, being inspired off of being a coach from The Voice, to inspire the new generation of singers," she explained.
"There's a bunch of 6-year-olds that weren't around [for my first hit single] 'Genie in a Bottle', so it's very interesting and fun for me to release this particular record, let them know what I'm about as an artist."
Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will not appear on the upcoming fourth cycle of The Voice, but the singer said this week that she won't rule out an eventual return.
Lotus is released on Monday, November 12 in the UK and on the following day in the US.
