Singer gets Deep Purple album pulled

Sony BMG has withdrawn a Deep Purple album from sale after the band's lead singer claimed he was unaware of its release.
A recording of a 1993 live show in Birmingham was re-released around six weeks ago, and about 2,000 copies have been sold.
But lead singer Ian Gillan has since said he did not know it was happening. A Sony spokesman commented: "We've withdrawn that album and tried to find out how a member of the band was not aware of its release.
"We are taking it off our sales platforms and trying to get back what there is out there. The CD has been out before in 1993, when it was sanctioned by the band."
Gillan has told the BBC that the "awful" concert was staged at a time when he and then guitarist Ritchie Blackmore had fallen out.
"It was one of the lowest points of my life - all of our lives, actually," he said on Radio 4's Today programme. "In fact, it lasted five or six shows after that Birmingham show. Then Ritchie left the band. And we've had 13 years of stability ever since then."
