The Barclaycard Mercury Prize 2012 has launched a new digital initiative for this year's show.
Fans have been invited to support their favourite 'Album of the Year' Mercury nominee by tweeting them a message as part of the ceremony's 'Voice Your Support' campaign.
The best 500 messages of support will then be recorded to a vocal audio track and handed to each of the 12 shortlisted acts.
"Everyone knows the excitement you feel when you discover a great album and the first thing you want to do is tell all your friends," said Gary Twelvetree, Global Brand Director at Barclaycard.
"Through 'Voice Your Support' we are giving music fans an amazing way to show their enthusiasm for their favourite shortlisted album by combining two technologies separated by 100 years.
"Twitter, the communication tool of today, and the vinyl record, which forever altered music. With 'Voice Your Support' we're showing our appreciation to the 12 best British albums of the year by giving music fans the chance to say thank you and offer them something back."
The Barclaycard Mercury Prize 'Voice Your Support' website is live from today (October 26) until November 5.
Jessie Ware, The Maccabees, Plan B, Django Django, Alt-J, Richard Hawley, Michael Kiwanuka, Ben Howard, Lianne La Havas, Roller Trio, Field Music and Sam Lee are this year's Mercury Prize nominees.
