The Official Record Store Chart polls the sales of albums bought in independent record shops, as part of a collaboration between the Official Charts Company and the organisers of UK Record Store Day.
The sophomore album from Mumford & Sons initially topped the chart when it was first released in September.
Since then its placing has steadily fallen, but this week Gigwise reports that it returned to knock Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! off the top spot, with the post-rock album dropping to third place.
The top 5 is rounded out by 18-year-old Jake Bugg at number two, Bat for Lashes with her new album The Haunted Man at number four, and Taylor Swift's album Red, which, while managing the highest first-week sales for a decade in the US, could only make number five in the record store chart.
Mumford & Sons are set to release their new single 'Lover of the Light' in December, along with a live DVD entitled Road to Red Rocks.
