George Michael will be the first act to play the new Wembley Stadium, it has been announced.
He has upstaged rock band Muse by organising a June 9 concert on his British and European summer stadium tour. They had been expecting to be the first after planning a show for June 16.
Alex Horne, managing director of the new venue, welcomed the "fantastic news". He added: "He's no stranger to this great stage having performed at the old stadium with both Wham at Live Aid and as a solo artist.
"This is a fitting first gig in the new stadium. We are looking forward to putting the stadium back on the world map as a major music destination."
Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams and the Rolling Stones all had to rearrange concerts after the stadium's opening was delayed.
