Israel Eurovision entry about Iran?
Published Monday, Mar 5 2007, 09:20 GMT | By Dave West
Israel's entry into the Eurovision Song Contest has been accused of taking a dig at the country's arch-enemy Iran.
The countries have been at diplomatic loggerheads for years and Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reported to say he wants to “wipe Israel off the map”.
According to The Sun, Eurovision judges are concerned over lyrics in 'Push The Button', by punk act Teapacks: “I don’t want to die, he’s gonna push the button”.
Political songs are banned from the competition and the paper says organisers are to meet to decide on what to do.
The band says the song is more general and “could be about the violence on the streets of England”.
