Labrinth: 'I don't make music to get to number one'

By
Labrinth has admitted that he was left unfazed after claiming his first number one single last weekend.

The singer's latest cut 'Beneath Your Beautiful', which features Emeli Sandé, topped the UK chart last Sunday (October 28), but he confessed that he doesn't get affected by the chart.

"I don't really make music for chart positions," Labrinth told Digital Spy.

"It's good that we could have one, but I think if we all get caught up in that we start making music for number ones, instead of actually making music."

However, the star did like the fact that the number one single came from the last track to be lifted from his debut album Electronic Earth.

"Usually when you're on your last single and you've gone to the end of your album, it's the first singles that explode," he explained. "So to achieve a number one on the last single was quite sick."

Following his success with Sandé, Labrinth also revealed that he wants to collaborate with the singer again in the future.

"She's amazing and great writer," he said. "She can craft a song really well so I'd love to work with her again."
