The 'Glad You Came' singers were apparently unhappy to learn about the state of their bank balances after meeting with their accountant.
The Mirror quotes band member Jay McGuiness as saying: "It was so depressing. It took him two hours to say: 'Boys, you're skint.'"
When told that rivals One Direction are 'worth millions', The Wanted's Max George said: "They are. We're not".
The Wanted's 'Glad You Came' has sold three million copies in the US alone, but was not written by the band. It has been reported that One Direction are worth almost £100 million ($160 million).
Speaking about the supposed feud between the two bands on Alan Carr: Chatty Man tonight (November 9), Tom Parker said: "It is hardly Blur versus Oasis".
George added: "I don't think they have anything to be upset about, they are absolutely smashing it", while Parker said: "They are the biggest band in the world."
