The producer - best known as a member of TV On The Radio - has previously worked with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Scarlett Johansson.

"Beady Eye have returned to the studio to start on the follow-up to their Different Gear, Still Speeding debut album released last year," a statement on the band's website reads.

"Liam, Gem, Andy and Chris started sessions today with producer Dave Sitek... Release date is yet to be confirmed but the as yet untitled album will come out in 2013."

Noel Gallagher recently said his brother's band Beady Eye have "a good album in them", adding that they "f**king need one".
