The buzz around 25-year-old Ria Ritchie started back in 2009, after a series of posts on YouTube (aka pulling a Bieber) led to an email from Plan B, who started writing songs with her.
Those songs (five of them, to be exact) have yet to see the light of day, but she's continued to make waves ever since; writing with the likes of Skream and Futurecut (Lily Allen, Stooshe) some months later, releasing a single 'Only One' in April this year and getting a guest spot on Disclosure's breakthrough track 'Control'.

She started playing the guitar at 17 but don't be fooled, her inspiration lies in soul, hip-hop and R&B - both the vintage (Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye) and modern (Alicia Keys, Beyoncé) kind.
Last year, Ritchie signed with Takeover Entertainment and scored a publishing deal with EMI, which has allowed her to record more songs and new single 'Something About You', which is available to download now. It also allowed her to shoot an accompanying music video - albeit in a shoestring budget - which appears below:
We'll admit that there's some smoothing to be done around the edges, but still in writing sessions with Craze & Hoax (Dot Rotten) and The Nexus (Emeli Sandé), we suspect a major label deal isn't too far from her grasp.
Ria Ritchie's 'Something About You' is out now. Her debut album follows in 2013.
