Grohl is currently on hiatus from his band Foo Fighters, and recently announced plans to reunite with Queens of the Stone Age for work on their new album.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 43-year-old will attend the Texan music and arts festival to deliver the keynote speech at the Austin Convention Centre on March 14.
The speech will be open to all SXSW badge holders and registered showcasing artists, more than 2,000 of which are expected to appear at next year's festival.
The former Nirvana drummer has established roots in oratory, with his mother teaching public speaking and his father having worked as a Republican speechwriter and a former journalist.
Despite the hiatus, Grohl has said that Foo Fighters have definitely not split, insisting that they are just taking a break.
