Eighties singer Kim Wilde has been named as the unlikely choice to lead celebrations of the European Union's 50th birthday.
She has been picked to perform with Greek artist Nana Mouskouri - formerly an MEP - at an anniversary event in Belgium on Saturday.
Among the songs set to be performed for gathered dignitaries is Together We Belong, representing the ethos of the EU.
Saturday is 50 years since the signing of the Treaty of Rome, a key milestone in establishing the partnership.
Nick Boyles, Wilde's agent, explained: "It's an appropriate title. We are not being paid and she's delighted to be participating."
Other events will be held throughout Europe on the day including an all night party in Berlin and a half-marathon in the Czech Republic.
