Adele, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera in contention for Oscar nods

Adele and Katy Perry are among the artists in contention for an Oscar nomination.

A shortlist of 75 tracks eligible to be nominated in the Original Song category at the 85th Academy Awards has been released.

Adele's James Bond theme 'Skyfall' and Perry's 'Wide Awake' - which was penned for her own concert film Part of Me - have been listed.

Christina Aguilera could be nominated for 'Casa De Mi Padre', taken from the film of the same name, while Arcade Fire's 'Abraham's Daughter' from The Hunger Games has also been listed.

Further possible nominations include Florence + the Machine's 'Breath of Life' from Snow White and the Huntsman, Karen O's 'Strange Love' from Frankenweenie and 'Suddenly' from Les Misérables.

The 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced on January 10, while the ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Centre on February 24.
