Sir Paul McCartney is rumoured to be planning a performance with Nirvana's surviving members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, while Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and The Who are also expected to take to the stage at the fundraising concert.

The 12-12-12 The Concert for Sandy Relief compilation will feature 24 performances from the evening and is available to pre-order on iTunes now.

A physical album will be available as soon as possible, with the net proceeds from the soundtrack going to the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

The charity is providing money, material and know-how to local organisations that are serving families and individuals in the regions hardest hit by the storm.
