The seminal Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is to be recreated for Radio 2 to mark its 40th anniversary.
Contemporary bands including Oasis, The Killers, Razorlight and the Kaiser Chiefs will all contribute cover versions to a special production of the album.
The musical engineer in charge of the original recording is to use the same equipment to recreate the album.
Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: "This will be not only a unique radio event, but a very special musical moment.
"The range and quality of artists involved ensure that this will be a fitting tribute to one of the greatest albums of all time."
