Tom Odell: 'I'm not a male Lily Allen'

By
Tom Odell has revealed that he wants people to listen to his music before they judge what kind of artist he is.

The singer - who has been named the Brits Critics' Choice winner 2013 - is signed to Lily Rose Cooper's In The Name Of record label, but doesn't want the public to make presumptions of his music, based on the connection.

"Lily has done it all from scratch herself, so I couldn't wish for a better mentor," Odell told the Daily Star.

"She doesn't try to mould me at all - I hope people listen to my music before thinking I'm a male Lily because, as great as she is, the creative decisions are mine."

He added: "My rule is to write songs people can relate to. Artistry is being lost with so much processed dance music.

"It's not all that human, and that's what I want to bring back."

Odell released his debut single 'Another Love' back in October, while his debut album is expected in June.
