The Voice UK coach claimed that such prizes can make bands "complacent", explaining that he would prefer a less established group to win 'Best International Group' at the February 20 ceremony.
"I was talking to a lot of people when I was on holiday over Christmas and it seems the more awards you get the more complacent you start to become," he told the Daily Star.
"We've always been pipped at it for whatever reason but it's never stopped us from going on and being successful.
"The stage we're at now - 'Hall of Fame' has gone platinum in America, we're number one in Germany - I say don't give us the award, give it to someone who is more deserving, a younger band who need the help.
"We don't need the help. Finally we've got a bit of recognition - but we're rocking and rolling with or without awards."
