If the LP manages to hold on to pole position on the tally until Sunday, it will be the first film cast recording to top the Official Chart in almost 16 years.

The last movie album to achieve the same feat was the Madonna-fronted Evita soundtrack in February 1997.

The Les Misérables LP includes Anne Hathaway's rendition of 'I Dreamed A Dream', her duet with Hugh Jackman on 'At The End of the Day' and Russell Crowe's 'Stars'.

The film recently topped the UK box office charts, pulling in £8 million on its opening weekend.
