Arcade Fire have reported that their frontman, Win Butler, is "recovering nicely" after a bout of illness.
The singer was taken ill and had to receive surgery, causing the band to cancel a number of its upcoming European concerts.
However, Butler posted a message on their website saying, "Just wanted to let you all know that the surgery was successful and I am recovering nicely. Thank you all for your thoughts and emails.
"I will probably start singing again this week some time to try and get ready for the shows in North America.
"It has been a blessing in disguise to be forced to stay at home and read, and sleep and I have even started work on some new songs."
Arcade Fire are starting their US tour in San Diego next week.
