The former Blur frontman said that the planned film project, already linked with filmmaker Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame, is to be the last for the cartoon band.
He told the BBC, "We're trying to make a film next, starting in September hopefully. It will be a film score. There won't be another pop record."
The project will see the Gorillaz play characters other than themselves, like real actors in a film.
