The move puts an additional 464 jobs at risk.
Last week, HMV completely quit the Republic of Ireland, resulting in the loss of 16 stores and 300 jobs.

A day earlier, it was announced that 66 HMV outlets were to close across the UK, with up to 930 employees being affected.
HMV entered administration last month, but appeared to be saved after its debt was purchased by restructuring firm Hilco.
Chief executive of Universal UK David Joseph this week claimed that Elton John and other stars would be willing to perform in-store gigs to help save the ailing retailer.
"Elton has always been a big supporter of record shops," he said.
"He will be doing something with HMV although as yet we cannot confirm what or when that would be."
