Sir Paul McCartney has hinted at the imminent deal that will render Beatles tracks available for download on the internet.

The Beatles' music has never been available online, but McCartney conceded that after a long process, the deal was "virtually settled".

The deal is to involve Apple Corps, iTunes and record label EMI.

He told Billboard, "I don't want to pre-empt anything, but we're well on the way to something happening there, which is very exciting."

McCartney is reportedly due to make roughly £200 million from the deal.
