Girls Aloud confirm split: 'Love and support will stay with us forever'

By and Robert Copsey
Girls Aloud have seemingly confirmed that they have split in a message on their official Twitter page.

The group, who completed their 'Ten' tour with a show at Liverpool's Echo Arena last night (March 20), took to the microblogging site to thank their fans, but added that "we have now come to the end of our incredible time together".

The statement reads: "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!

"This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!!

"Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots."

The band were widely expected to announce their break-up during their show at the Echo Arena, after emotional tweets from Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle paying tribute to those who have supported the band during their ten-year history.

Girls Aloud announced their reformation in October 2012 for the release of their greatest hits collection Ten and its accompanying tour after a three-year hiatus.

Together they released five studio albums, two greatest hits compilations and 22 singles, 20 of which peaked inside the top ten.
