Kanye West 'New Slaves' screening shut down by police

By
A planned screening for Kanye West's music video for 'New Slaves' was shut down by police in Houston, Texas.

West launched the controversial new single last week by projecting a promotional clip on public buildings across the world, in celebration of his upcoming album Yeezus.

According to the Houston Chronicle, police stopped a scheduled screening of the clip on the Rothko Chapel on Friday (May 24).

Fans who had gathered around the chapel wall were ordered to leave or be arrested for trespassing.

Other planned screenings in the area were compromised, with a projection at the Central Library shut down due to "technical difficulties," and one at the George Bush Monument postponed altogether.

A witness at the scene said: "All we saw were the sprinklers come on and obnoxious people screaming Kanye threats."
