Samberg also recently commented that he is hopeful the group will be able to headline a string of concerts soon.

"It's just a matter of scheduling now," Rolling Stone quotes Samberg as saying.

His bandmate Akiva Schaffer went on to say: "We just realised that we needed a few months of free time to really do it right.

"And we want to do it right. We're not real performers: we have to start from the ground up, so it's extra difficult for us."

The Lonely Island's latest album features Lady GaGa, Justin Timberlake, Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar, but bandmember Jorma Taccone has admitted that their dream collaboration has not happened yet.

"We've just been waiting for a song good enough to bring to President Bill Clinton to play sax on," Taccone said. "We're still working on that."

The Wack Album is released tomorrow (June 11) in the US and will be available in the UK on June 17.
