By
Daft Punk are rumoured to have planned a rare TV appearance in the US next week.

The electronic dance duo rarely feature on television and have done little promotion for their 2013 album Random Access Memories.

However, reports are emerging that the group will appear on Stephen Colbert's Comedy Central show The Colbert Report next week.

Colbert made a surprise appearance on Jimmy Fallon's NBC late night show last night (July 31), in which he emerged from behind a curtain, danced to Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky', and left without saying a word.

A post on a dedicated Colbert fansite has now claimed that the skit was staged ahead of Daft Punk's planned appearance on the show.

The post reads: "Last night Stephen Colbert made a surprise appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, dancing his way onto the show, Stephen boogied-on down with Jimmy Fallon to Daft Punk's new single 'Get Lucky' (feat. Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers) from their new album Random Access Memory (sic), before dancing his way back behind the blue curtain.

"Not as random as it seems, the bit is all to do with the upcoming appearance of Daft Punk on The Colbert Report."

The appearance may be connected to Daft Punk reportedly planning to release a follow-up single to 'Get Lucky' this month.

Nile Rodgers recently posted on his blog that Daft Punk will bring out the single around the time of his New York show in August.

He wrote: "There's going to be me, my band Chic, and some of the hottest acts and surprises on the planet that day... which happens to be around the time the next Daft Punk single drops (I'm just saying)."
