Clean Bandit: People clicked on video expecting tour of Mozart's house

By
Clean Bandit have revealed that people discovered them online while looking for Mozart.

The band - who claimed a UK Top 20 hit with 'Mozart's House' earlier this year - admitted that people would only click on their video expecting a tour of the composer's home.

Clean Bandit press shot.

"We get some weird YouTube demographics in terms of country and age. It used to be lots of old men!" Neil Amin-Smith told Digital Spy backstage at Bestival.

"In the early days we'd get lots of YouTube comments being like, 'S**t, I thought we were going to see a tour of Mozart's house!' I think some people know who we are now, so we get that less and less."

The group confessed that 'Mozart's House' was an unexpected success for them and they weren't prepared to scale the charts.

"It would have been quite scary," Grace Chatto said. "When 'Mozart's House' started being played on radio we weren't really ready with the next song, so it's good that it's now going in the right direction.

Amin-Smith added: "Hopefully we will actually get to the top!"

The band have attracted fans with their mix of electronica and strings, with violinist Amin-Smith explaining that the crowd enjoys the combination.

"I think people like it," he said. "Sometimes it feels like they're mocking it in the crowd, but I think it's affectionate mocking. There's a lot of air violin going on!"

Clean Bandit are currently working on their debut album for release in 2014.
