Janis Joplin for posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Janis Joplin will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Kris Kristofferson and record executive Clive Davis will be present to honour the life and legacy of Joplin in Hollywood on Monday, November 4.

The ceremony will also be attended by Janis's siblings Michael and Laura Joplin, among other notable guests.

Fans will be able to watch the star ceremony on a live stream presented by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Janis - who died in October 1970 aged 27 - is already a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and placed in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004.

A Hollywood Walk of Fame star will also be given to alternative rock band Jane's Addiction next week.

Other recent inductees include Julianne Moore, Jane Lynch and Vin Diesel.
