Exclusive: 11-year-old choirboy Jack Topping targets Christmas No. 1

By
Choirboy Jack Topping has entered the race for the Christmas No.1.

The 11-year-old has become the youngest solo artist to ever sign to Decca Records, and his cover of 'Tomorrow' from the Annie soundtrack will be released on December 9.

Proceeds from sales of the track will be donated to Save The Children, of which Topping is an ambassador.

Topping sings the track on the charity's Christmas TV advert, pushing him to the bookies' second favourite behind The X Factor winner in the race for the top slot.

"I watch The X Factor every week, so it's really exciting and a bit scary that I will be going up against them," he said.

"I really like the contestants on The X Factor, but I would love to have a Christmas number 1 so it raises lots of money for Save the Children and the children I have met so far."

He added: "There are boys and girls all over the world that need help. Together, I know we can make a difference this Christmas."

Topping has visited schools in South Africa to see the work done by Save the Children's education programmes.

A William Hill spokesman added of the record's chance of hitting the top spot at Christmas: "We listened to 'Tomorrow' and we think it will be a definite contender.

"There is a huge amount of buzz around it. To be second favourite ahead of the likes of One Direction shows how seriously we're taking Jack's chances. Watch this space!"

Topping recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the Classic Brit Awards.
