Nina Persson for solo debut 'Animal Heart', unveils video

By
Nina Persson has announced her debut album as a solo artist.

The Cardigans and A Camp frontwoman releases Animal Heart via Lojinx on February 10, 2014. She has also unveiled the music video for title track 'Animal Heart', which is available now as the lead single.

"The most difficult and maybe also the best thing about going solo is probably all the decisions you make alone," said Persson.

"Somewhere inside, I have a very clear clock, a gut feeling, that says what I think. I have forced myself to just keep going and follow only my gut with this album.

"I have simply no time to dwell on things anymore which I did a lot before."

Animal Heart was written and produced by Persson with husband film Nathan Larson (A Camp, Shudder To Think) and Eric D. Johnson (The Shins, Fruit Bats).

Persson's last album was 2009's Colonia with A Camp.

Since then, she has worked with Dangermouse and Sparklehorse on their Dark Night of the Soul project and James Iha's second solo album Look to the Sky.

Persson will play solo tour dates in the UK in early 2014.
