The Strokes have announced they will take some more time away from music.
In a posting on their MySpace page, the quintet reveal they are unlikely to make any new records before the end of this year, and are not planning any live dates. However, they added that the band will not be splitting up, and would be resuming their musical career in the future.
"The band are still enjoying some much needed "off time"," the statement read. "I wouldn't expect anything to come out this year. In the meantime, they are staying busy pursuing some other personal interests and are busy working/writing/rehearsing and all those things bands do in between albums. But, there are no immediate plans to release an album or tour for the time being."
