A concert will be held to raise money to save the fire-ravaged Cutty Sark, it has been announced.

The gig is likely to span genres in order to attract fans and make as much as possible to restore the famous tea clipper. It was largely destroyed in the blaze last week.

Stephen Archer, a director of Cutty Sark Enterprises, said the show would be in the Greenwich area in coming months and that further details would be revealed next week.

"I think it may well be a mixture of genres," he explained. "I think it's going to be some sort of combination to have a wide appeal." Archer said organisers had some "major support" on securing artists.

At the time of the fire almost half the ship was removed as part of conservation work. It was due to reopen in 2009 but may now take until 2010, and several million pounds more, to complete.
