"They're really nice guys and they come up to us at every show and say hi, it's just their stuff's way too poppy," Eoin said, when asked if he was a fan of Royal Blood.

"It's just a bit clean for me, but they're lovely guys and really glad they're doing well," he added.

Speaking about the resurgence of two-piece groups like themselves, he added: "I guess when a lot of bands started up around 2010 it was kind of like the height of the recession, and if you were in a band it was cheaper and better logistically if there was just two of you.

"You wouldn't have to rely on people having an income to get into the practice room or whatever. So I guess it's more like a question of economics and then more recently it's kind of become more like a trend.

"Whenever we play around the UK there's usually a two-piece band that opens that have started up in the past 12 months."

Drenge will perform at End of the Road Festival this Friday (August 29).
