Rolling Stones end festival hiatus

The Rolling Stones have performed their first British festival gig in more than 30 years.

The legendary rockers took to the stage at the Isle of Wight Festival in front of a crowd of 60,000 on Sunday night.

Amy Winehouse and Paolo Nutini appeared for duets to mark the 'Brown Sugar' hitmakers' first UK festival appearance since 1976's Knebworth Fair.

Their 90-minute set included the hits 'Start Me Up', 'Wild Horses' and 'Sympathy For The Devil'.

Earlier in the day a chartered ferry had transported the band's five Winnebago trailers, private security team and 200-strong entourage from the British mainland to the Isle of Wight.

Guitarist Keith Richards told Virgin Radio: "It's kind of weird you know, for us. Coming back home is always like a bit more special. We just carry Britain with us really - our little bubble of it."
