White Stripes play for UK veterans

The White Stripes have played their first UK gigs in two years - for ex-servicemen.
Jack and Meg White gave a short acoustic set for 20 veterans at London's Royal Chelsea Hospital on Tuesday.
The frontman, who has previously praised British tradition and custom, closed the performance with thanks for the audience's time and their "service to your country and to the world, and especially the United States".
One guest at the hospital, who got to speak to Jack, said after the show: “Well, I thought it was very, very good. It’s very modern for me. I was intrigued when he sang 'You Belong To Me', which is from my era.
"I thought he became emotional, I noticed he’d become puckered around the lips, and he said, ‘Yes, I don’t know why’.”
Later that day the band gave a more raucous performance, featuring tracks from new album Icky Thump, at London's Rivoli Ballroom.
