Sir Elton plays huge Ukraine gig
Published Monday, Jun 18 2007, 09:35 BST | By Dave West

The free open-air gig, in the main square of capital Kiev, was held to promote awareness of HIV and Aids and was broadcast live on television.
Sir Elton told the crowd he would do what he could to help fight the country's problem with the disease, which is one of the worst in Europe.
The Ukrainian president, Viktor Yushchenko, was also present despite some religious groups previously calling for a boycott of the "blasphemous" event. They accused it of promoting homosexuality.
Free condoms and advice leaflets were handed out before the show.
